At AAKH Heart Care Centre, our Cardiology Department is one of the most advanced Speciality Departments. We offer a fully functional Cardiac Department catering to both Interventional and Non-interventional Cardiology needs. These include full diagnostic procedures such as angiography of the heart, pulmonary and coronary arteries as well as advanced diagnostic testing like intra-vascular ultrasound OR Doppler to evaluate the flow or blockages in all suspicious cases of the coronary arteries.
The AAKH Heart and Vascular Centre is home to some of the top cardiologists in Durban, who integrate their extensive skills and experience to diagnose and treat heart, lung, and chest-related conditions. Apart from adult cardiology, the Centre also has some of the best paediatric cardiologists in who specialize in paediatric cardiac care and surgery.
Our state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) at AAKH, is fully-fitted to handle complicated cases & treatments such as an Ablation, Angiogram, Angioplasty, and Implantation of pacemakers and ICD’s.
With one of the few 24/7 Cath Labs and dedicated Cardiac Emergency Response Vehicle, many of the most complicated cases can be treated at our cardiac centre within minutes.
The lab uses an intelligent flat screen system and advanced digital and Doppler technology that is capable of accommodating all kinds of cardiovascular procedures like opening a blocked artery in the heart or brain or down in the foot. Our 24/7 Cardiac Cath lab is always ready to intervene on any level of cardiac patients needing immediate intervention whether for heart attacks, rhythm abnormality, structural heart disease, or carotid and vascular interventions.
